Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Jon Kyl (R-AZ) today released the following statement on the confirmation of Judge Susan Brnovich to be United States District Judge for the District of Arizona:
“I am pleased that the Senate has confirmed Judge Susan Brnovich to be district court judge for the District of Arizona. Judge Brnovich is eminently qualified for the federal bench with nine years of experience as a judge on the Maricopa County Superior Court. She is well respected across Arizona for her commitment to public service and impressive record as a judge and prosecutor.
“Judge Brnovich’s confirmation is a key step in filling judicial vacancies in Arizona federal courts. The judicial vacancy Judge Brnovich will fill was considered a judicial emergency because of the heavy caseloads of Arizona’s district judges. There are still two vacancies on the Arizona district court, both of which are considered judicial emergencies, and I look forward to working with the White House and my Senate colleagues to nominate and confirm qualified judges to those positions.”
